I understand that unlike last year’s Spring conditions the 143 finishers (I don’t know how many started) deserve some recognition for braving cold and blustery conditions. Despite the conditions there were some good performances. Winner, Veronica Knight, was only 4 seconds slower than last year and runner-up Ellen Bowden matched last year’s time with a great 67:30 (not bad for a soon to be master).

Pete Bottomley ran mostly 5Ks & 5 milers last year but shows us he does well at longer distances too!

There were some complaints by the Cape Elizabeth police because runners were not considerate and stayed out in the road two miles into the race. The Maine Track Club has been meeting with the police chief, but this is series. It would be a shame to lose this great race because of this, but it is possible.
