1996 Results
For the fifteenth year in a row, with top notch competition, this race served as a perfect mid-winter race for many Mainers . Many of Maine’s best racers showed up, including Rob Pierce of Alfred. He led the race from about the 6 mile mark and never looked back, crossing the finish line in a very quick 51:10. This was Pierce’s last race before taking a shot at the U.S Olympic team. The top four runners all beat the 1995 best time of the year, in Maine, for this distance Quite a feat considering it was about 20 degrees with a head wind blowing at the start and for the last 4 miles. A record field attended this year’s race with 220 finishing.
